That Famous and UNIMAGINATIVE Blue Tie
|
| |

Beware: a blue shirt, blue tie and blue suit signals
to the world "I'm unimaginative!" The popularity of pale
blue ties has increased enormously since George W. Bush
became President. Unfortunately, pastels of any kind diminish
power and can suggest naievete or passivity. Pastel blue
ties are best saved for the country club and dinner parties.
Ultimately, a "naive" pastel blue tie would have been
the perfect choice for Bill Clinton when he issued his
apology for lying to the nation. Instead, he chose a "sensual"
purple tie.
John Piscitelli is a Vice President with a prestigious
investment firm, and he is an expert in his field. He
learned that Rule Number One is: do not match your shirt
to your tie. If your tie could talk, it would tell everything
about you, and it must be the boldest non - verbal statement
that you make. It requires high contrast with your suit
and shirt in order to dominate.

CLOSET TIPS
|
| |
Warmer
days are approaching, so it's time to think about moving
some of your clothes to the off-season closet. Do the
task in stages, as the weather gets progressively warmer.
Stage One - Late
Winter/Early Spring: Remove the "heavy duty" items first.
This includes heavy overcoats/winter coats and suits
in wool flannel, as well as turtlenecks & bulky sweaters;
plus snow boots, ski wear and heavy winter socks. Men,
replace the heavy overcoat with a lined raincoat. Women,
replace the heavy winter coat with a 3/4-length coat.
Stage Two - Early
Spring: Women, put aside the wool suits that
have collars, but maintain those that are collarless.
Retrieve spring suits that have collars and long-sleeves,
provided the colors are not too summery looking (turquoise,
white, etc.). Men, put aside all but your favorite
heavy wool suits that remain, and retrieve light-weight
wools in the darkest colors from the spare closet to
wear on the warmest days. Retrieve summer ties to wear
on the warmest days. Once the weather has leveled off
and is warm, retrieve the remainder of your summer suits
to enable you to glide into summer.
