In some workplace advice that sounds like it's directly from Mom, you and your employees should dress appropriately. I know, it sounds like common sense-you know your appearance reflects on your business. But you probably aren't always trying your hardest to look your best. (I know I can say the same for myself.)
But I came across this tidbit of advice on dressing appropriately in the workplace, and I thought I'd pass it on: "It's an insult, really," says Sandy Dumont, executive director of consulting firm Impression Strategies Institute. "Dressing inappropriately says, 'My comfort is more important than impressing you,' and people pick up that message loud and clear."
So maybe you won't be waking up an extra 30 minutes early to make sure every hair is in place, but you should keep it in mind on days when you have someone you need to impress.
