"Power dressing is not for the meek."

IMAGE TIPS
Look Like a Polished Professional
Dear Readers,

Spring is a time for the rebirth of nature. Why not re- invent yourself with a new image. KatieCouric and countless others did, and it paid off royally.

For Everything There is a Reason
Including Power Dressing

Makeover

Much has been said about the similarity of attire worn recently by Former Governors Elliot Spitzer and James McGreevy. Both were caught cheating on their wives. Although the circumstances were different, the element involved was apologizing for betrayal.

Power dressing is designed to proclaim that you are powerful; in other words, it is designed to ensure that you get your own way. Obviously, that's not the message you want to send when apologizing for "getting your own way" at the expense of others.

While the navy blue suit (trust) and white shirt (purity) are fine, the board room tie is not. A better choice would be the light blue tie popularized by President Bush. Pastels suggest softness and kindness, and they are not threatening or powerful.

A good image consultant would have avoided this unwise choice of attire for both men.

Business Casual Is Dead!
Long Live Classy Casual! A GUIDE FOR MEN

Business Casual is Dead, Long Live Classy CasualIf you have ever wondered what "Business Casual" actually means in terms of dress, you aren't alone. In fact, I get calls repeatedly from CEOs who want me to come in and "do a workshop so the employees will know what Business Casual really means." Well, that's the problem with Business Casual - it can't be defined. You'll find out why when you read my new eBook on the subject!

This book was inspired by a seminar I attended recently that was given by Jeffrey Gitomer. There were about 2,000 people in attendance, and the majority of them were men. Very few people were "dressed to impress." Instead, most of them looked like they were ready to attend a garage sale.

This book will point out the difference between "Business Casualty" attire and "Classy Casual" attire. It is a book you can't be without if you are serious about your career.
