David Wilbar, President The LTC Center, Norfolk, Virginia You were the first of several people to ask that question this month. Remember only this: if your eyes are riveted to the feet, something is wrong . The trick is to try to have a nearly uninterrupted line of color from the suit to the feet so that your eyes are not stopping along the way to investigate hairy legs, patterned socks - or scruffy shoes. Start with long, executive socks! With dark suits, even grey ones, just wear black shoes and socks. And with brown suits, wear brown shoes and socks; with khakis or chinos, wear medium brown shoes and matched or slightly lighter socks. And you could even wear your white deck shoes for sporty occasions. Just don't wear black shoes with tan or beige trousers. And avoid socks with patterns. They catch the eye too much.
