 |  |  | Careless Casual or Classy Casual?  There are times when casual attire is appropriate in the business world: weekend seminars, company picnics, golf outings. The cardinal rule of branding is consistency. You cannot afford to look polished and professional SOME of the time, so when you are heading for the weekend seminar, make sure your attire is Classy Casual rather than Careless Casual. Khakis look particularly casual, and they often appear clumsy because of their bulkiness. Lightweight summer gabardine or cotton twill trousers, on the other hand, give a polished and elegant appearance. Polo and golf shirts are loose and comfortable, and they are made for sports activities. However, they haven't the remotest connection with business. Conversely, a crisp cotton broadcloth shirt lets everyone know that you are ready to talk business! Business Casual is an oxymoron and Casual Friday is dead. It died a fairly slow and tedious death.
