Little Things Mean a Lot

Makeover
Maribeth Kuzmeski, President of Red Zone Marketing of Chicago, is a nationally-known and dynamic speaker. She discovered that little things can sometimes make a big difference. Not surprisingly, Maribeth's signature color is red, and it looks great on her! What didn't look great were her pant shoes. They make the feet look too large when worn with a skirt, so that the eyes are riveted to the feet. We tweaked her hair and makeup a bit, and voila! Perfection! Little things do make the difference between a polished, professional look and a look that is like everyone else.

Careless Casual or Classy Casual?
Makeover
There are times when casual attire is appropriate in the business world: weekend seminars, company picnics, golf outings. The cardinal rule of branding is consistency. You cannot afford to look polished and professional SOME of the time, so when you are heading for the weekend seminar, make sure your attire is Classy Casual rather than Careless Casual. Khakis look particularly casual, and they often appear clumsy because of their bulkiness. Lightweight summer gabardine or cotton twill trousers, on the other hand, give a polished and elegant appearance. Polo and golf shirts are loose and comfortable, and they are made for sports activities. However, they haven't the remotest connection with business. Conversely, a crisp cotton broadcloth shirt lets everyone know that you are ready to talk business! Business Casual is an oxymoron and Casual Friday is dead. It died a fairly slow and tedious death. There were times when it looked like it might survive, and in its last gasping breath, it cried. "I want to be comfortable." Rest of Story
